The Tomsk Regional Court has reduced the sentence of RusNews journalist Igor Kuznetsov. He is due to be released in February 2026. After his release, he will remain under restrictions: he must report to the police once a month, he will be barred from leaving Tomsk and the Tomsk region, and he will be subject to a night-time curfew. Kuznetsov has been in custody since 16 September 2021. In February 2024, he was sentenced to six and a half years in a general-regime penal colony on charges of “public calls for extremism”, stemming from anti-war posts he published on social media.
