The journalist was attacked on the checkpoint when he was on his way to the Koy Tash village where the residence of the former President Atambaev is located. Three soldiers blocked Kovalenko's pathway, stripped the camera from his hands, claiming that filming is forbidden. The journalist managed to keep his camera and managed to break through the checkpoint.
