Igor Eidman, a blogger based in Germany, has been charged in absentia. The charges were brought under provisions of the Criminal Code covering the dissemination of so-called “fake news” about the Russian armed forces (Article 207.3, Part 2(e)), failure to label publications as produced by a “foreign agent” (Article 330.1, Part 2) and participation in a “terrorist organisation” (Part 2, Article 205.5 of the Criminal Code). According to the investigation, in 2024 Eidman published posts on his Telegram channel and videos on YouTube alleging war crimes by the Russian army in Bucha, justified and “promoted” the activities of volunteer formations designated as terrorist organisations in Russia — the Russian Volunteer Corps (RDK) and the “Freedom of Russia” Legion — and failed to include the required “foreign agent” label on his posts.
