About 40 relatives of alleged administrators of the Telegram channel 1ADAT were arbitrarily detained and intimidated in Chechnya. The Chechen leadership considers brothers Ibragim and Abubakar Yangulbayevs to be the leaders of the project. The abductions took place on December 23-25 in the village of Goyty in the Urus-Martan district and Grozny. The detainees were taken away by men in black uniforms who did not identify themselves and took them to police stations. Abubakar Yangulbaev, a lawyer of the North Caucasus branch of the human rights organisation Committee Against Torture, was detained in Pyatigorsk. After a search and interrogation, he was released as a witness in a case of justification of terrorism.
