On April 24, citizen Armen Ghalechyan filed a lawsuit with the Yerevan Court of General Jurisdiction against the daily newspaper Hraparak, demanding a retraction of information he considers defamatory, compensation in the amount of 1 million drams (over $2,500), as well as reimbursement of attorney fees and the state duty. The lawsuit was prompted by an article published on March 29 on the Hraparak.am website, owned by the same editorial office. The article claimed that the process of the latest certification of senior and high-ranking officers of the Armed Forces of Armenia is being overseen by Armen Ghalechyan, described as a close associate of RA Minister of Defense Suren Papikyan. The case is currently under review.
