On September 16, Hayk Sargsyan, a deputy of the ruling parliamentary faction “Civil Contract” filed a lawsuit against the press club “Hayeli” in the Yerevan Court of General Jurisdiction. The reason for the suit was an article published on August 19 on the club’s news website Hayeli.am and its Facebook page, titled “What Was the Connection Between Karen from ‘Bravo,’ Who Died Yesterday, and Hayk Sargsyan?” The publication stated that the deceased had recently had problems with the deputy and was even involved in legal proceedings with him. The plaintiff demands a retraction of what is considered defamatory information and compensation in the amount of 1.5 million drams (about $3,900). The lawsuit is currently under review.
