On September 12, journalist and Yerevan Press Club expert Hakob Karapetyan was subjected to physical violence by an as-yet unidentified individual. The attacker, wearing a mask, lay in wait, and when Karapetyan left his office in the evening, the assailant suddenly approached him and delivered multiple blows, including to his head and face. That same day, a criminal case was opened under Article 195 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia (physical assault), and the journalist was recognised as a victim. In connection with the incident, journalistic organizations issued a joint statement condemning the attack and demanding that law enforcement identify the perpetrator and hold not only him but also any possible mastermind accountable.
