The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus has recognised the television programme “Hai Tak TV” on the Belsat channel as a “structural unit of an extremist formation.” According to the Ministry, extremist activity is carried out by “a group of citizens among the creators, directors, and participants” of the programme, though no specific names are given. “Hai Tak TV” is a satirical show about Belarusian realities with recognisable characters. Its creators describe it as an “antidote to state propaganda.” Under Belarusian law, any interaction with resources deemed to be part of extremist formations can lead to criminal prosecution and imprisonment of up to 10 years for participation in an extremist formation or for aiding an extremist formation (Articles 361-1 and 361-4 of the Criminal Code).
