Journalist Hafiz Babaly was detained in a criminal case of employees of the media outlet Abzas Media. According to his relatives, on December 13, in the afternoon, the officers of the Baku Police Main Department searched the journalist’s flat in Sumgayit and then took him away. During the search, a computer, mobile phone and some documents were seized from his flat. Two weeks before, on November 28, Babaly was summoned as a witness in the Abzas Media case. On December 15, a court in Baku arrested Babaly for three months on smuggling charges. The journalist refused to admit guilt and linked his prosecution to his professional activities.
