A doctor of the Regional Ophthalmological Hospital in Shymkent filed a lawsuit for the protection of honour and dignity with a court in Almaty. The defendant in the case is Gulzhanat Primbetova, the editor-in-chief of the news website KYN.kz. The reason for the lawsuit was a video published on April 29 in the media outlet’s Instagram account from a resident of the Turkestan region, in which he showed the conflict that occurred between him and medical staff during a hospital appointment. The plaintiff asks the court to order the editorial office to remove the video, apologise publicly, and compensate for the moral damage caused in the amount of KZT 600,000.
