On February 28, the editor-in-chief of Orda.kz Gulnar Bazhkenova was summoned for questioning by an interdepartmental investigative and operational group. «The interrogation lasted four hours and can be characterised as a polemic about the nature, duty, rights, and tasks of journalists», — Gulnar Bazhkenova later wrote on social media. The prosecutor demanded the names of the people who told the journalist about the fight in Akorda on January 3, 2022. The prosecutor responded to Bazhkenova’s refusal to disclose her sources by warning her of criminal liability for dissemination of inaccurate information.
