The Oktyabrsky District Court of Minsk fined photojournalist Gennady Veretinsky under Article 24.23 of the Code of Administrative Offences (previously Article 23.34). The court, based on a police report, found the journalist guilty of participating in an unauthorised public event. The judge did not take into account the journalist’s explanation, that at the time of his arrest he was going to the store for groceries, and there was no protest nearby.
