The court fined the director of the Azon New Media LLC Gayratkhoja Saidaliev USD 1155 for publishing materials of religious content without expertise (Article 184-2 of the Code of Administrative Offences of the Republic of Uzbekistan - "Illegal production, possession, import or distribution of religious material"). Azon.uz editor-in-chief Abdulaziz Muborak called it an attempt to «silence the website». The decision was made on June 21 by the Chilanzar District Criminal Court of Tashkent based on the results of monitoring by the Main Department for Combating Terrorism and Extremism of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and consideration by the Committee for Religious Affairs under the Cabinet of Ministers.
