A group of unidentified persons attacked and assaulted the blogger. Gaspar Avakyan was hospitalised with a broken jaw and multiple bruises. On 27 May he was sentenced to two years in a penal colony for extortion. The defence appealed the court decision. The blogger was given ban on certain professional activities.
