On February 16, 2023 in Simferopol, after a search, detention, and drawing up a report under Article 20.3 of the Code of Administrative Offences of the Russian Federation (propaganda or public display of Nazi symbols, or symbols of extremist organisations), citizen journalist Galina Balaban was taken to court, where her case was heard the same day. The court fined her RUB 2,000 and ordered to confiscate the phone, which, according to the court, was the instrument of the offence.
