On July 1, the head of the Arzni community in Armenia’s Kotayk Province, Felix Mirzoyev, filed a lawsuit with the Yerevan Court of General Jurisdiction against Armenia TV CJSC and television host Vahe Ghazaryan. Journalist Gagik Shamshyan was also named as a third party in the case. The lawsuit demands a retraction of statements considered defamatory, a public apology for the insult, and financial compensation in the amount of 9 million drams (over $23,000). The legal action was prompted by remarks made on June 15 during the program Sharp Angle, aired by the aforementioned TV company, which alleged that the community leader was involved in a bloody brawl. The case is currently under review.
