Evgeny Shapchits was detained by the security officials when he was covering a protest march against the presidential election results. He was taken to the police department, charged with participation in an unauthorized event (Article 23.34 of the Code of Administrative Offences of the Republic of Belarus), and held in the detention centre for three days until the trial. On November 11, the court found the journalist guilty based on the police report and arrested him for 15 days.
