The journalist was covering the protests in the centre of Gomel against the results of the presidential election and the violence of the security forces. He was detained by the police and taken to the district police department, where he was drawn up a report for violation of the law on mass events (Article 23.34 of the Code of Administrative Offences of the Republic of Belarus). He was placed in the detention centre for three days until the trial. On August 24, the court found the journalist guilty and arrested him for five days.
