The wife of a Pavlodar resident who died after a bar brawl filed a lawsuit with the city court to protect her honor and dignity against the owner of the Pavlodarnews news agency, Ertis Media LLP, and the owner of the Irbis TV company, RIA Arna LLP. The plaintiff demanded compensation for moral damage in the amount of KZT 2.5 million. The reason for the lawsuit was a direct speech of a witness in the criminal case, published in information materials in November 2021. In particular, «I witnessed that the relatives of the deceased gave money to my assistant. I don’t know what for. But our testimonies don’t match». The authors of the publications — journalists Ongar Baurzhanuly and Artyom Klevan are declared in the proceedings as third parties on the side of the defendant. On July 20, the plaintiff withdrew her claim.
