After the interrogation at the Main Police Department of Baku, journalist Elnara Gasymova was detained as a suspect. According to lawyer Bahruz Bayramov, she is suspected under Article 206.3.2 of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan (smuggling committed by a group of persons by prior conspiracy). Gasymova is involved in a criminal case against the journalists of Abzas Media. She denies the charge and links it to her professional activities. Gasymova faces a sentence of 5 to 8 years of imprisonment. On January 15, 2023, the court arrested the detainee for 2 months and 17 days.
