On January 13, 2023, civil journalist, activist, coordinator of the Crimean Tatar initiative Nefes Elmaz Akimova was forced to leave Crimea. Before that, on December 29, 2022, police officers and employees of the Center for Combating Extremism came to the journalist several times to check her place of residence. Prior to that, for more than four years, police officers had systematically visited the journalist at her address of residence several times a year to issue warnings and warnings against breaking the law.
