Blogger Elena Yanushkovskaya's home was sold at auction by Belarusian authorities in order to compensate the state for unpaid fined and taxes (Yanushkovskaya previously fled Belarus). Her debts amounted to 1436 rubles and 60 kopecks (347.45 GBP). Yanushkovskaya had lived in this house for almost 20 years, which she purchased when she moved to the village of Suykovo. It was also where she produced her vlog series 'Real Belarus', with the aim of highlighting the problems of the modern problems in rural Belarus. In 2020, while live-streaming the anti-government protests, she was arrested multiple times and punished with fines and administrative detention*. In February 2021 Yanushkovskaya was forced to flee Belarus because of politically motivated prosections. *short-term arrest while a judge or court considers an administrative case.
