The Troitsky District Court in Moscow has sentenced former municipal deputy and journalist Elena Vereshchagina to 15 days of administrative detention for petty hooliganism (Part 1 of Article 20.1 of the Code of Administrative Offences of the Russian Federation). According to the court, in a public place Elena, “disrupting public order, used obscene language, waved her arms, demonstrated clear disrespect for society, and ignored remarks made by members of the public”. No further details of the incident have been disclosed. Vereshchagina herself described the detention on her Telegram channel. According to her, on 5 May two plain-clothes police officers approached her at her home in Troitsk, after which she was taken to a police station, where a report for petty hooliganism was drawn up. She spent the night at the station, and on the morning of 6 May the court ordered her detention until 20 May.
