The Pavlodar City Court accepted two lawsuits for review against Elena Semyonova, a well-known defender of the rights of prisoners. The first is on the defense of business reputation was filed by the Main Directorate of Agency UK/161/2 of the Committee on Criminal Corrections of the Interior Ministry of the Republic of Kazakhstan (Kostanay), and the second on the defense of honor, dignity and business reputation of an employee of the colony, Gulmirza Myrzala. The statements to the court followed the publication on her Facebook page on October 26, 2019 of statements of the prisoners of that colony about the harsh treatment and inaction by security agencies. The plaintiffs demand a recognition of the information as not corresponding to reality and to force Semyonova to retract them.
