Journalist Elena Nalimova and her underage daughter were summoned to the police and forced to submit written statements as part of a pre-investigation check under Russia’s laws on “LGBT propaganda” (Articles 20.3.3 and 6.21 of the Administrative Code) and “failure to fulfil parental duties” (Article 156 of the Criminal Code). This is the second such check against Nalimova; the first, in May, was triggered by a complaint from the head of a local veterans’ organisation, partly over her post about Halloween. Nalimova covers, among other issues, protests against the destruction of a city park to build a school named after “heroes of the special military operation” in Ukraine.
