The Minsk City Court has begun hearing a criminal case against former TUT.BY employees Olga Loyko, Elena Tolkacheva, and Ekaterina Tkachenko. The trial will be held in absentia, as the defendants are outside Belarus. They are charged under four articles of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus: Part 1 of Article 342 – organization of or participation in mass riots; Part 2 of Article 243 – tax evasion; Part 3 of Article 361 – causing harm to the national security of the Republic of Belarus and art 3 of Article 130 – incitement of social hostility or discord. The trial is closed to the public and is being presided over by Judge Elena Shilko. It should be recalled that TUT.BY employees Elena Tolkacheva and Olga Loyko were detained on May 18, 2021, as part of a criminal case against TUT BY Media LLC. They were later released from the pre-trial detention center after their preventive measure was changed.
