The Dorogomilovo District Court of Moscow sentenced journalist Ekaterina Fomina and publisher of Important Stories Roman Anin to eight and a half years in prison in absentia. They were found guilty of spreading military “fakes” motivated by political hatred (clause “d” of part 2 of Article 207.3 of the Criminal Code) because of three videos published by Vazhnye Istorii in 2022. These are two reviews of news stories by Anin, who was editor-in-chief of Vazhnye Istorii at the time, and an investigation into the killing of civilians in Bucha, published by Fomina. Both are living outside of Russia.
