The Minsk City Court passed a sentence on blogger Eduard Palchys. The court sentenced Palchys to 13 years of imprisonment in a penal colony. The trial was held in closed mode, as requested by the prosecutor. The blogger was found guilty under four articles of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus: Article 130 (deliberate actions aimed at inciting other social enmity and hostility on the grounds of other social affiliation, committed by a group of persons and resulting in other serious consequences), Article 293 (organisation of mass riots), Article 342 (organisation of actions that grossly violate public order), and Article 361 (calls for actions aimed at damaging the national security of the Republic of Belarus). Palchys was detained in September 2020, since then, he was kept behind bars until the trial. Already in detention, Eduard became a father, his wife and child were forced to go abroad.
