A court in the Morgaushsky District of Chuvashia has sentenced Eduard Mochalov, editor-in-chief of the independent newspaper "Vzyatka" to 180 hours of community service under Article 319 of the Criminal Code, which concerns the public insult of a representative of the authorities. The sentence followed the publication of an article criticising police inaction in the investigation of crimes committed against a local farmer. The criminal case was opened on the basis of a complaint filed by two police officers.
