The Minsk City Court announced the verdict in absentia in the «special trial» in the «Black Book of Belarus» case. Judge Natalia Buguk sentenced in absentia to 12 years of imprisonment the former journalist of the Pressball newspaper, co-founder of Tribuna.com Dzmitry Navosha and four other defendants in the case. They were accused of illegally collecting personal data (Part 3 of Article 203-1 of the Criminal Code) and inciting hatred (Part 3 of Article 130 of the Criminal Code). The trial was held behind closed doors. According to the charges, the Telegram channel «Black Book of Belarus» published personal data of security officers, officials, and pro-government journalists involved in harassment, attacks, beatings, and torture of protesters. In addition to custodial sentences, those convicted must also pay fines of 500 basic amounts and lawsuits to the victims. In connection with this, the court ordered the seizure of Dzmitry Navosha’s flat.
