Early in the morning, police came to search the homes of employees of the independent news agency BelaPAN. Dzmitry Navazhylau, who resigned as director in January 2021, was taken to the Investigative Committee for interrogation after the search. After his interrogation, he was detained for 72 hours and placed in a temporary detention centre. According to the Investigative Committee, he was detained on suspicion of committing a crime under Part 1 of Article 342 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus (“organising, preparing, or taking part in actions that grossly violate public order”).
