It has become known that Belarusian political prisoner and journalist Dzianis Ivashyn spent about two weeks in the punishment cell of prison No. 8 in Zhodzina in May 2025. The exact dates and reason for his punishment remain unknown. Human rights advocates equate confinement in punishment cells (SHIZO) in Belarusian prisons to torture, as political prisoners are subjected to harsh and inhumane conditions there.
