The journalist was stopped in the city by the traffic police under the pretext of checking his car for theft. He was taken to the police station, where an administrative report was drawn up on him for disobedience to the police (Article 23.4 of the Code of Administrative Offences of the Republic of Belarus). The journalist was placed in the detention center until the trial. He went on a hunger strike. On August 12, the court found Salauiou guilty and arrested him for eight days. The journalist was released ahead of time on August 15.
