Additional information:
The St. Petersburg City Court has sentenced local historian and blogger Dmitry Vitushkin to one year in prison on charges of rehabilitating Nazism (Article 354.1 of the Criminal Code). He was also banned from administering websites for three years. Taking into account the time he has already spent in custody, he will serve just one year in a penal colony. Vitushkin was detained on 12 October 2023 and sent to a pre-trial detention centre the following day. On 10 April 2024, his preventive measure was relaxed, after which he was prohibited from certain activities. The criminal case was triggered by two comments under a post about the Soviet-Finnish War of 1939–1940 in the VKontakte group Ingermanlandia, which Vitushkin administered.
