All five deputy editors-in-chief of Vedomosti newspaper – Dmitry Simakov, Boris Safronov, Filipp Sterkin, Kirill Kharatyan, and Alexander Gubsky – announced that they were leaving the newspaper in protest against the appointment of Andrey Shmarov as editor-in-chief. The last one has been working for Vedomosti since it was founded and the others – for about 15 years. Aleksandra Chunova, acting editor-in-chief of the vedomosti.ru website, and Elizaveta Bazanova, economics editor, are also leaving Vedomosti.
