The Kirovsky District Court in Yekaterinburg has fined journalist Dmitry Kolezev 30,000 rubles (€260) for failing to submit a report required of “foreign agents” (Part 2 of Article 19.34 of the Code of Administrative Offences). Kolezev had previously faced administrative penalties for not complying with the obligations imposed on “foreign agents.” He was designated a “foreign agent” in November 2022. On 24 December 2024, a criminal case was opened against him for evading these obligations. Earlier, Kolezev was sentenced in absentia to 7.5 years in prison in a case concerning military “fake news” related to a post about crimes committed by the Russian army in Bucha.
