The security officials detained the journalist when he was returning home after covering Sunday's protest rally. During his detention, his cell phone was taken from him, and he was told that it would be inspected for evidence of illegal journalistic activities. The journalist was taken to the district police department, where two administrative reports were drawn up on him: for alleged disobedience to the police (Article 23.4 of the Code of Administrative Offences of the Republic of Belarus) and cooperation with a foreign mass media without the accreditation from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Article 22.9 of the Code of Administrative Offences of Belarus). He was held in the detention centre for three days until the trial. On October 28, the court returned the reports to the police for revision, and the journalist was released.
