The Presnensky District Court of Moscow sent Dmitry Ivanov, author of the Telegram channel Protest MSU, to pre-trial detention for two months on charges of «fakes» about the Russian army. Ivanov is accused of publicly spreading deliberately false information for reasons of political hatred about the use of the Russian army (Paragraph E of Part 2 of Article 207.3 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). The grounds for the criminal prosecution were the publications in the Telegram channel Protest MSU about the Russian Armed Forces’ attack on the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, the losses of Russian aviation on Ukrainian territory, the Russian Armed Forces’ attacks on a Ukrainian city and killing civilians there, the fact that the Russian army is conducting a war rather than a special operation, and about the Russian army’s war crimes in Bucha and Irpin.
