On March 4, the Khachmaz District Court sentenced freelance journalist Djamil Mamedli to a year and a half of community service. Judge Anar Sadygov made this decision on the complaint of Ziyaddin Aliyev, head of the Quba district executive authority. According to the court, during this period, 20% of the income of Mamedli will be withheld monthly in favour of the state. It should be noted that the head of Quba district accused Mamedli under Article 147.2 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan (libel of committing a grave crime). The subject of the lawsuit was videos of Mamedli on his YouTube channel «The modern period of the ancient Quba» «Phaeton fraud of the beggar». The publications alleged that the executive authority embezzled money from individuals on welfare assistance. Mamedli works as an independent reporter. In the past, he was a regional correspondent for Radio Azadliq.
