On June 1, in Almaty, a military garrison court heard the case of a soldier accused of the death of Yelnar Kansseyitov during the January events. Journalists of The Qazaq Times Kultegin Aspanuly and Didar Kaliyev filmed the proceedings with the judge’s permission. At the end of the court session, the representative of the father of the deceased, A. Zhumanov, attacked the journalists, took away the phone from one of them, and threw the camera on the floor. Later, in the court corridor, he aggressively demanded that the journalist stop filming, even though the journalist was not filming. Zhumanov also injured the finger of the second journalist and smashed his equipment. The journalists filed a complaint with the police.
