The Ministry of Internal Affairs has issued a criminal warrant for Denis Kataev, a journalist and presenter on the TV Rain channel. The specific charge under which the case has been opened has not been disclosed. In October, RIA Novosti reported that a criminal case had been launched against Kataev for failing to comply with his obligations as a “foreign agent.” He had previously been fined twice under an administrative offence for breaching the rules governing the activities of “foreign agents.” In September 2023, the Ministry of Justice added Kataev to the official register of “foreign agents.” Kataev currently resides in France.
