In the Vladimir region, the prosecutor's office has referred the case of blogger Denis Ivanov, accused of libelling Oleg Chizhov, the member of the regional parliament from the party United Russia (Part 5 of Article 128.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation), to a magistrate. Ivanov faces up to 5 years in prison. He is being prosecuted for his Instagram posts in which the blogger claimed that Chizhov, as director of the construction company Monostroy, was involved in document forgery, financial fraud, and creation of one-day firms for tax evasion. At the same time, Monostroy was searched in 2022. According to Ivanov, the judge refused to accept all documents mentioning Chizhov as evidence of the truthfulness of his publications.
