The Shokhmansur District Court sentenced journalist Daler Sharifov to one year of imprisonment in a general regime colony. The state prosecutor demanded to sentence the journalist to two years and four months in prison, but the court sentenced him to a shorter term, given the facilitating circumstances. Three circumstances were taken into account: the crime was completely the first time, a frank confession and the presence of under-age children. In his closing remarks, Daler Sharifov pleaded not guilty under Article 189 of the Republic of Tajikistan's Criminal Code (incitement to ethnic, racial, parochial or religious enmity). Sharifov was detained on January 28.
