On January 31, 2021, the correspondent of the project Crimea.Realities of Radio Liberty photographed Lenin Square in Simferopol, where a picket of supporters of the Russian opposition politician Alexey Navalny did not take place. Two operatives of the Centre for Combating Extremism approached the journalist from two sides when they saw that he was taking photos, took him aside, and asked to show documents. His passport data was recorded. After that, police questioned him about what he was photographing the square for. In particular, the police asked if the journalist represents any media. He explained that he was taking photos for his page on a social network. After that, the correspondent was let free.
