The city court of Kiselevsk, Kemerovo Region, has sentenced local resident Bulat Shumekov to seven years of colony for video clips about the war in Ukraine. The criminal case against Shumekov under the article on «fakes» about the army (Article 207.3 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) was initiated in April, and then the charges were toughened by imputing the motive of hatred or enmity. According to the investigation, Shumekov created and distributed «fake» videos on the Internet. In spring 2022, he was fined three times under the article on «discrediting» the army (Article 20.3.3 of the Code of Administrative Offences of the Russian Federation).
