On March 17, Botagoz Omarova, director of the public Internet TV station 101tv.kz came to the office of the Eurasia Building construction company so as to submit an editorial inquiry. While she was there, employees of KazPolimetall approached her. They began to recount that they were not being paid their wages. Botagoz began to record this on her telephone. A guard immediately ran up to them and grabbed the telephone from Omarova. “This guard ran up – a very big man – dragged me out on the street, grabbed my telephone, and struck me several times,” said Botagoz.
