After Abdullaev's extradition from Kyrgyzstan to Uzbekistan, the journalist was detained and held for more than six hours in the National Security Service office for interrogation. The Uzbek authorities charged him under Articles 158 (Attacks on the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan) and 159 (Attacks on the Constitutional System of the Republic of Uzbekistan) of the Criminal Code of Uzbekistan. The two countries' special services prepared the special operation for the arrest in Bishkek and the subsequent extradition of the journalist.
