In the magistrate court of the Kievsky District of Simferopol, the case of the administrative offence was considered against the editor of the Qirim newspaper Bekir Mamutov, who was accused of abuse of media freedom for quoting the report of the UN Secretary-General, which mentioned the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people. According to the Department of the Federal Service for Supervision of Communications, Information Technology and Mass Media of the «Republic of Crimea», the publication did not indicate that the Mejlis is banned in Russia. After two sessions, the court found the editor guilty under Article 13.15 of the Code of Administrative Offences of the Russian Federation and fined him RUB 4,000. Mamutov noted that he does not consider himself guilty and intends to appeal the decision.
