Journalists from several media outlets who were covering a protest action by workers at a jewelry shop in one of Shymkent’s districts were physically prevented from working and had all kinds of pressure put on them by the police. «Yesterday, we were filming. It was obvious that we were media representatives. We were with microphones. But [the police] hurt my colleague’s arm and broke his umbrella. They tried to take away the phone from [Radio Azattyq reporter] Dilara Isa, but after our intervention, they stopped. Correspondent Bakhrombek Talibzhanov was threatened with death,» said KTK correspondent Bek Abiyev.
