The Supreme Court found blogger Batmakan Zholbolduyeva guilty in the case of conflict with an official of the Batken administration and fined her KGS 50,000. She was also sentenced to two years of imprisonment under the article «forgery of documents», but was released on probation for one year. Batmakan spent six months in pre-trial detention centre and then was placed under house arrest. The criminal proceedings were prompted by a conflict between Zholbolduyeva and Uraimov, chief of staff of the Batken Region administration in the south-west of the country. Uraimov punched her in the face. She was prevented from covering a meeting on the consequences of the armed confrontation on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border. Zholbolduyeva was hospitalised and published a photograph of herself with bruises on her face. After the police registered the incident and launched an investigation, Uraimov made a video statement in which he stated that he had not attacked Batmakan.
